HOT TAMALE 55,000 volts!!!
Available in 1.5 Ohm or 3.0 Ohm
1.5ohm coils need an external ballast resistor. Resistor should be used especially with a points ignition system.
3.0ohm coils can be wired directly to 12v an external ballast resistor should not be used unless your application calls for it.
***I do not recommend wiring any coil that's 1.5ohms directly to 12v. A full 12v will cause the coil to run hot and shorten its useful life.
I don't sell Pertronix units with that being said, they have some contradictory info in their directions. On a v8 setup they say 1.5ohms and full 12v... remove the ballast!!!!... They also sell coils wink wink. If your read further the directions they go onto say that the MAX primary resistance is for v8 3.5ohms.. which would be a 1.5ohm coil with a resistor or a standard 3.0ohm coil without an external resistor.
Where I'm going with this is I would run the 1.5ohm with a ballast if it doesn't cause any running issues. Your coil will thank you !
30 day manufactures defect warranty... If you leave your key on and smoke the coil please do the right thing and just buy a new coil..... I'm not summit or amazon. I can't afford to pay for you accident or mistake ....I personally will have to eat the cost on both coils which will take the sales on next 4-5 coils to recover…don’t be a cheezer! thanks Rick
